Dr. Riham Mohamed Hilal is an Associate Professor at the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) in Alexandria, Egypt, specializing in Film Production Design, Scenography, and Interior Architecture. She joined E-JUST in October 2023, following academic appointments at Alexandria University and Pharos University.

Dr. Hilal holds a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from Alexandria University (2016), where she also earned her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Décor – Stage, Film, and TV Set Design. Her academic and creative work spans scenography, art direction, cinema studies, costume design for theatre, and set design for television and digital media productions. She is also engaged in interdisciplinary research exploring artificial intelligence applications in the creative arts, including digital animation, character design for animated films, and immersive digital scenography.

Her scholarly contributions include numerous applied and theoretical publications in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. She serves as a reviewer for several international journals and participates in multiple academic committees and editorial boards. She is also a member of the Production Designers Collective and holds advisory roles in international research societies.

Driven by a passion for innovation in art and design, Dr. Hilal continues to explore the intersection of technology and visual storytelling, with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and research excellence.

My core academic and professional focus lies in Interior Architecture, with strong interdisciplinary engagement in Artificial Intelligence applications, Film Production Design, Art Direction, Cinema Studies, Set Design for TV series and program shows, as well as Scenography and Costume Design for Theater.

My research interests revolve around the integration of technology and creative arts, with a particular emphasis on:

  • Character Design for Animated Films

  • Digital Art and New Media

  • AI-driven Design Methods in scenography and spatial storytelling

  • Virtual and Augmented Reality applications in set and production design

  • Interdisciplinary approaches combining art, architecture, and emerging technologies

I am deeply committed to advancing research and publication in these domains and continuously seek opportunities that foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and innovation in design, technology, and media arts.
