Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department (IME)

Dr. Mohamed Nassef received his B.Sc. degree from the Production Engineering Department at Alexandria University in Egypt in 2005. He conducted his M.Sc. research work in the same department between 2006 and 2008 in dynamics of metallic materials. Dr. Nassef was awarded a fully funded scholarship from the German academic exchange services (DAAD) in 2009 to pursue his Ph.D. degree in production engineering from the University of Bremen, Germany between 2009 and 2013. He received his degree in the field of machine tool dynamics and control. After his return to Egypt, he joined Alexandria University as an assistant professor, between 2014 and 2019, teaching a wide spectrum of manufacturing and mechanical engineering courses. Besides, Dr. Nassef provided many consultation and professional training services in industry in the field of fault diagnosis of rotating machinery for different industries. Dr. Nassef is currently holding a position of Associate professor in the industrial and manufacturing engineering (IME) department at Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology. He is teaching courses of mechanical design, mechanical vibrations, and machinery condition monitoring, in which, he is adopting a more student-oriented approach. He leads a research group involved in two main tracks: fault diagnosis of rotating machinery and nano-lubricants and tribological properties of lubricants. The research topics includes early fault detection and diagnosis of rolling bearings and the tribological enhancement of lubricants for in rotating machinery. His expertise covers the application of advanced signal processing techniques, vibrations measurement and analysis, heuristic algorithms, lubricants tribological characterization, and experimental modal analysis technique.
