Mohamed E. El-Khouly was born in Egypt and earned his PhD degree in chemistry from Tohoku University, Japan (2002). He continued his research in Japan funded from Venture Business Laboratory (VBL, Chiba University, 2003-2004), Center of Excellence (COE, Tohoku University, 2004-2006), and Japan Society for the Promotion Science (JSPS, Tohoku University, 2006-2008). After that he moved to Osaka University as specially appointed Associate Professor (Fukuzumi Laboratory, Department of Material and Life Sciences, Graduate School of Engineering, 2008-2012). Sine 2018, he has been a full professor at the Institute of Basic and Applied Sciences, Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST). His research interests are mainly focused on: (i) Solar energy conversion (artificial photosynthesis, solar fuels), (ii) Photodynamic of light harvesting materials, molecular and supramolecular systems based on carbon nanostructures by using laser photolysis techniques, (iii) Photodynamic laser therapy for treating the cancer tissues, (iv) Fabrication of mesoporous materials for efficient removing the toxic and radioactive species, and (v) utilizing polymer and carbon nanostructure materials for memory devices application. The studies in these projects have been published in 148 papers in the peer-reviewed international journals (e.g., Nature communication, J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Chem. Eur. J., Chem. Commun., J. Mater. Chem. C, Eur. Chem. J., etc.) with total citations 6100 and h-index 44. Based on his achievement in the scientific research, Dr El-Khouly, awarded the State Award of Excellence in Advanced Technology Sciences from Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Egypt (2017).
