Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

Islam Ali graduated from Alexandria University with a BSc in Production Engineering in 2009. He obtained an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the same university in 2011 while researching container terminal operations' optimization through improved berth and quay crane allocation. In 2017, he obtained his PhD from the School of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University, researching Humanitarian Logistics and optimizing the distribution of relief supplies in the aftermath of disastrous events, after which he joined the teaching staff as an Assistant Professor at the Production Engineering Department, Alexandria University. In 2021, he joined the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) academic staff in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. Currently, his research focuses on designing, analyzing, and applying efficient algorithms, digital twin implementations, and machine learning techniques to solve different routing and scheduling problems in Supply Chain Management and Logistics.
