Professor Ibrahim I. El-Sharkawy got his Ph.D. specializing in Energy and Environmental Engineering from Kyushu University, Japan. He awarded a highly prestigious fellowship from Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). He worked in world-class institutes including King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Kyushu University. I also conducted academic visits to the University of Warwick, UK and National University of Malaysia. Prof. El-Sharkawy, as one of the early scholars on solar-powered adsorption cooling systems, has been engaged in this research field for more than 15 years and has a high reputation in the world. His research interest includes; (i) solar cooling systems, (ii) solar-powered multigeneration systems, (iii) water harvesting from atmospheric air, (iv) thermal energy storage; (v) desalination, and (vi) hybrid sorption-vapor compression refrigeration systems. To date, he published more than 80 articles in peer reviewed journals & international conferences and co-authored four book chapters. Prof. El-Sharkawy also won one of the most prestigious awards in his country from president of Arab Republic of Egypt due to his devoted efforts in the academic field.
